POSITIONS AVAILABLE:

Program Director – Clubhouse (3117 Prospect Ave, Eureka)

General Description: Under supervision of the Unit Director, the program director is responsible to provide planning, coordinating and implementing activities and programs. A variety of programs are to be provided to include: Character Development and Leadership, Education and Career Development, Health and Life Skills, The Arts, Sports, Fitness and Recreation.

Responsibilities:

*Maintain respectful communication with members, parents, school personnel, and other staff at all times.

*On-site supervision of the members.

*Maintain positive outlook and attitude with children, and provide constructive feedback on their efforts and progress.

*Plan and implement a minimum of three programs with a minimum of two using Boys & Girls Club curricula.

*Adhere to the Boys & Girls Club of the Redwoods policies and procedures.

*Assist children in conflict resolution skills, and how to accept responsibility for their actions.

*Maintain positive discipline and safety procedures at all times.

*Help maintain a clean facility, making sure children clean up after activities. Never leave a mess after an activity!

*Assist with calling parents concerning discipline whether on a positive or a negative note, or talking with parents when they pick-up members.

*Maintain two programming boards.

*Provide guidance in problem-solving with the program assistants.

*Assist with supervision of programs and activities when necessary.

*Maintain fairness and equality with all members at all times–

NO SPECIAL TREATMENT

*Additional duties as assigned by Unit Director.

Skills required:

*Ability to listen, to have patience, and to create a positive atmosphere with children, parents, school personnel, and other staff.

*Ability to organize groups of children in both play activities and core programming areas.

*Knowledge of child development issues and individual personal issues of each member.

*Knowledge of conflict resolution and mediation skills.

*Knowing how to allow members to resolve problems, and when it is appropriate for an adult/staff to step in.

*Knowledge of appropriate-age games, recreation, fine arts, programming and discipline.

*The ability to provide guidance in a positive atmosphere for problem-solving with the program assistants.

*The ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms.

*The ability to supervise program assistants when necessary.

*The ability to be non-biased in interaction with members.

Experience / Education required:

*Completion of two years of college, with a preference of study in child development, education, recreation, and sociology or psychology.  Extensive experience in the child development field will be considered as equivalent.

*At least one year of experience working with groups of children in a supervised setting.

*Preference for work experience with low-income, disadvantaged children.

*Demonstrated experience in planning and implementation of youth programs.

Wage / Benefits:
This position will start at $ 13.25 per hour for a maximum of 30 hours a week during the academic school year. The position requires availability during after-school hours (1:30pm-6:30pm) Monday through Friday.

 

Program Assistant – Clubhouse (3117 Prospect Ave, Eureka)

The Boys & Girls Club is looking for two energetic, fun and caring individuals to help run program, supervise members, while providing positive and supportive guidance. They will need to be flexible and able to work Monday-Friday from 1:30-6 pm. The job description is below:

Program Assistant
